ECLIPSE SEASON

For centuries in many civilizations, eclipses played an important role in people’s lives. In many ancient cultures, eclipses were divine signs and often considered omens. Some civilizations performed ritual ceremonies to celebrate or at least acknowledge the event and ward off any possible negativity from the eclipse.

Through research by many astronomers and astrologers in the past, we now know that eclipses occur in pairs two weeks apart and these pairs are generally 173 days apart. Most years will have two pairs; however,  occasionally a year may see only Solar eclipse and no Lunar eclipses; while some years may see only two eclipses and some, as many as seven.

Scientists have proven that the Moon’s gravitational pull is what causes ocean tides. This same gravitational pull is why eclipses have such an effect on people. Eclipses occur at either the North or South Node of the Moon.  As a result, there are four types of eclipses: North Node Solar Eclipse, North Node Lunar Ecliipse, South Node Solar Eclipse, South Node Lunar Eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth’s orbit aligns between the Moon and the Sun. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon’s orbit aligns between the Sun and Earth. Depending on the ecliptic path, a North Node eclipse will see a “surge” of energy; whereas, a South Node eclipse will see an “outage” or ebbing of energy. A lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon; a solar eclipse, during a new moon. A lunar eclipse can be either a North Node or South Node; same with a new moon. That’s the science part.

Whatever the type of eclipse, “eclipse season” [the period affected] starts about a week prior to the eclipse and continues for up to 90 days [occasionally up to a year] afterwards.

September 2025 will have two eclipses:

·       September 7 – Full Moon North Node Lunar Eclipse at 15° Pisces.

·       September 21 – New Moon South Node Solar Eclipse at 29° Virgo.

In a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, a surge of energy may cause people to react in ways they wouldn’t normally. It’s a proven fact that there are more hospital emergencies and more criminal activity during a full moon. Does this mean that the full moon affects everyone – and in the same way? Of course not. For this upcoming full moon, the effect depends greatly on which house 13° - 18° Pisces is in your natal chart.

In a New Moon Solar Eclipse, there is a lessening of energy. There may be more depression, anger, confusion, or overdependence on drugs or alcohol. Again, this depends on which house 26° Virgo - 3° Libra is in your natal chart.

For those who enjoy looking ahead, the eclipses for 2026 are:

·       February 17 – New Moon North Node Solar Eclipse at 28° Aquarius

·       March 3 – Full Moon South Node Lunar Eclipse at 12° Virgo

·       August 12 – New Moon South Node Solar Eclipse at 20° Leo

·       August 28 – Full Moon North Node Lunar Eclipse at 4° Pisces
