The masters of life know the Way, for they listen to the voice within them, the voice of wisdom and simplicity, the voice that reasons beyond Cleverness and knows beyond Knowledge.” ~ from The Tao of Pooh

A summary of major astrology transits for this week helps focus the Tarot. Please remember that astrology aspects are not predictions but merely signposts to help understand the astral influences that may affect you. More is revealed when you are aware of which houses these aspects present themselves in your natal chart.

WEEK’S OVERVIEW: Lots of motion in the sky this week. Although two planets [Mercury and Venus] change signs the same day, the retrogrades really dominate the stage. Before week’s end, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto will all be in a retrograde status. The good news is that outer planets [and all of these are] are less intense when they are in retrograde, compared to the inner planets. Chiron is not a major planet and is referred to as the “Rainbow Bridge” between the older planets and the newer discovered planets [Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.] The significance is that this many retrogrades affects the astrological energy as a whole. Depending on where they align in your natal chart determines where they will affect you most. [For example, for me, Saturn transiting my 10th House of career opposing my natal Neptune in the 4th House is challenging me to balance my work time with vigorous plans to redecorate my home.]

MOON TRANSITS: The Moon moves quickly, completing a cycle in 28.5 days. Its emotional, motherly energy affects each sign it enters briefly. Because its effects are short-term, I have, in the past, bypassed their entrance through each sign. However, the Moon affects us all and I feel obligated to start including when the Moon enters a new sign. If you’re aware of your natal chart, knowing when the Moon hits your natal chart houses can be beneficial.

·       Monday – Moon enters Leo. The energy of a Leo Moon is to stand out from the crowd, to be front and center at the party, and to contribute charm – and maybe a bit of bossiness – to the day. For example, if Leo is on the cusp of your 4th House, this will be directed toward home and family. If it’s on the cusp of the 7th House, it will affect partnerships, especially work-related relationships.

·       Wednesday – Moon enters Virgo. The energy will turn more practical and helpful, with maybe a little perfectionism causing criticism.

·       Friday - Moon enters Libra. The Moon entering Libra brings peace, harmony and a little romance. The energy can also bring indecisiveness.

ONGOING:

·       Saturn is retrograde in Aries until December 10, providing an interval of reviewing personal accountability [perhaps having a hard time saying no], reassessing long-term goals, and revising as necessary. This is a long period of looking inward at several aspects of your life and determining if you feel you’re on the right track or need to pivot.

·       Neptune is retrograde in Aries until December, pausing to renew balance in healthy habits and to reconsider what societal influences have affected your personal desires – and perhaps no longer serve a purpose.

·       Pluto is retrograde in Aquarius until October 16, producing tentativeness or a hesitation to speak up in your own behalf. Through September and October, Neptune and Pluto are sextile, creating a harmony of the two energies conducive to personal inner growth, and enabling us to recognize old patterns that are preventing forward movement.

·       Chiron is retrograde at 0° Taurus until October. This energy addresses feelings about self-worth, and urges turning major focus away from pleasing others to focus on inner growth and trusting our own instincts.

·       We’re in September, a 1-month in a 1-year. In Tarot, One represents the Magician, who is influenced by Mercury. The Magician is independent and a natural leader. A 1-year is a time for new beginnings. A 1-month represents new personal adventures where you show independence and leadership with confidence. Hopefully, last month you were able to shed some of the mental burdens holding you back or pulling you down. Now it’s time to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix and spread your wings. This is a month to form plans and to think how you can make your life more authentic to your purpose here on Earth.

TUESDAY

·       Moon conjunct Jupiter in Leo. This brief conjunction provides a day of good feelings, self-confidence and generosity.

·       Jupiter in Leo trine Saturn retrograde in Aries. This is a carryover from last week, continuing through Friday. Because both planets are in fire signs, this will bring confident, assertive energy; and because Saturn in retrograde acts like a mini-Jupiter, this is a great opportunity to move forward with a project. However, remain practical and refrain from going overboard because it feels dutiful.

WEDNESDAY

·       Venus in Libra at 29° trine the North Node in Aquarius at 29°. Any aspect with the North Node is of interest. Venus has enjoyed being in Libra, bringing compassion and harmony. With the anaretic degree influencing this transit, there is likely a feeling of urgency to complete major tasks or commitments. This lasts a day, but shadow energy may linger another day.

THURSDAY

·       Mercury enters Libra, bringing its logical reasoning to the balanced nature of Libra. This may slightly ease the intensity of Venus being in Scorpio as Mercury is also the sign of one-to-one relationships. Mercury will remain in Libra until the end of the month.

·       Venus enters Scorpio, a sign it doesn’t particularly enjoy. During this period from September 10 to early December, you may feel yourself being more critical or cautious about relationships, especially close personal ones, as Scorpio’s intense energy pushes against Venus’ calm, harmonic energy.

·       Venus in Scorpio opposite Chiron retrograde in Taurus. This aspect may also ease a bit of the intensity of Scorpio, as Chiron draws in healing energy, conducive to the grounding nature of Taurus.

·       Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini. Outer planet retrogrades are not as intense. With Uranus, this is a period of assessing how you’re dealing with changes occurring around you. Change is necessary for evolving and growing. Gemini is an excellent multi-tasker, which may aid in accepting current changes.

·       New Moon at 18° Virgo. A New Moon in a 1-month in a 1-year can only encourage new beginnings. In Virgo, this hints at practical encounters involving organizational and communication skills in your daily routine, your health habits, and could even involve learning something new [maybe go back to school?]

FRIDAY – SEPTEMBER 11

·       All of the preceding leads into the historical 9-11 anniversary of the attacks on the U. S. I don’t usually delve into mundane astrology, but here it is. The outer planets are currently in retrograde [pausing for a moment], two inner planets are moving to new signs, and we’re in a 1-month, 1-year with a New Moon. [Providing a new perspective.] Outer planets tend to be generational since they’re slow moving and this seems to imply a generational momentary pause. [to reflect?] September 2001 was a 3-month in a 3-year implying overindulgence and high energy creativity, which you have to admit it certainly was. Take a moment today to remember what we’ve lost, what we’ve gained, and how to move forward with dignity, not just as a nation but as individuals.

SATURDAY

·       Mercury in Libra opposite Neptune retrograde in Aries. This would be an excellent day [and will last only today unless your natal chart implies shadow time] to relax, enjoy some private time, and not make any major decisions. You may gain some personal spiritual insights and are not expected to act on them; just listen.

SUNDAY

·       Mercury in Libra trine Uranus retrograde in Gemini. A day off on Saturday allows extra insight and stimulation today to tackle a problem that’s been nagging you. Although you may not resolve the issue, you will likely make progress and feel more balanced in starting the new week.

TAROT

I always take a few moments of quiet to center myself, take a few deep breaths, and listen to intuition coming forth as I shuffle the cards. For the Zodiac signs this week, I'm using the traditional Rider-Waite deck. For the Collective card, an overview for all, I am using the Divine Angels Oracle deck.

·                 Collective card: Reassurance

“Trust your intuition and make practical decisions that align with your higher purpose. Your guardian angels are acknowledging your efforts.” It’s basically the message from the quote this week. There’s much going on in the sky; some will seem to align perfectly with you [because of where they fall in your Houses or align with your natal chart] and some will seem irrelevant. A mentor of mine often said to take what resonates and leave the rest. Excellent advice. The key is for you to listen to your intuitive voice that is constantly providing messages.

·                  ARIES [the Ram]: Ten of Swords

This card indicates that whatever you have been grappling with recently, the worst is over. Saturn being retrograde in Aries could give an overwhelming feeling of frustration; however, according to the Ten of Swords, it isn’t really as bad as you’re imagining it. Life is good.

·                  TAURUS [the Bull]: The High Priestess

Chiron being retrograde in Taurus presents a time of healing, and the High Priestess represents the intuitive realms. Since the High Priestess is influenced by the Moon, and the Moon is in high spirits this week, you are likely to benefit from some private meditative/prayer time throughout the week.

·                  GEMINI [the Twins]: Six of Pentacles

The Six of Pentacles is all about generosity and caring for those who may be in need of a gentle soul to recognize them. Uranus retrograde in Gemini brings a larger feeling to this card; that perhaps you’re not just providing aid to a person but helping them to grow and accept some change in their life as a positive step. This, of course, comes back to you as positive karma.

·                  CANCER [the Crab]: Strength

With the upheaval of retrograde planets and planetary movement this week, the Strength card is a gentle persuasion to persevere and face the uncertainties with hope and courage. Rally that strength from within, that inner intuitive voice, to guide you through whatever difficulties that may arise this week.

·                  LEO [the Lion]: Queen of Wands

The Queen of Wands parallels the confidence of Leo and the fiery appreciation of life. This week conjures warmth, passion and sincerity. Jupiter is currently in Leo, expanding the gratitude and appreciation that this card brings to life in general.

·                  VIRGO [the Virgin]: Seven of Pentacles

The New Moon is in Virgo, bringing inspiring energy to approach new ways to communicate [writing, painting, singing, etc]. The Seven of Pentacles suggests patience in this new approach. Success will occur but don’t expect it overnight.

·                  LIBRA [the Scales]: King of Pentacles

One of the personas of Mercury [who is currently in Libra] is that of the merchant, diligently plying his trade for compensation. The King of Pentacles represents financial stability and trusting yourself to create something that will last.

·                  SCORPIO [the Scorpion]: Queen of Swords

The intensity of Scorpio matches the intensity of the Queen of Swords. While Venus is dwelling in a sign it is not comfortable in, the Queen of Swords is in a position she doesn’t necessarily enjoy. She has a deep sense of sorrow and can be harsh and overly honest, somewhat like Venus in Scorpio. Again, the bottom line is to trust your instincts.

·                  SAGITTARIUS [the Archer]: King of Swords

Sagittarians are adventurous and philosophic and tend to be expansive with their intentions, being ruled by Jupiter. Add the clarity and intellectual air of wisdom of the King of Swords and this week seems to be a stimulating journey. Enjoy!

·                  CAPRICORN [the Sea-Goat]: Eight of Pentacles

Ruled by Saturn currently in retrograde, Capricorn is experiencing an expansive spurt of personal growth. The Eight of Pentacles implies that this progress is in building practical routine skills that may be applied to the material matters of business partnerships.

·                  AQUARIUS [the Water Bearer]: Queen of Cups

The Queen of Cups represents unconditional love and compassion. Although Pluto is retrograde in Aquarius, it seems the North Node resting in Aquarius speaks to this card. The North Node implies destiny and future goals. The Queen seems to be pointing you in the direction of giving or receiving love on a universal level, perhaps through your community involvements.

·                  PISCES [the Fish]: Five of Swords

The Five of Swords indicates a feeling of defeat or of something not working out fairly in your opinion. Pisces, ruled by Jupiter and Neptune – and both being in fire signs currently – may be warring with the notion of fairness. Pisces is often called the sign of self-undoing. Perhaps this feeling is just that, a feeling, not a reality. Step back, reassess; and again, listen to your instincts. What change can you make so you go forward with optimism?
