Tarot Readings for the Week of May 17, 2026

in quietness and trust is your strength”   Isaiah 30:15

An overview of major astrology transits for this week helps focus the Tarot. Please remember that astrology aspects are not predictions but merely signposts to help understand the astral influences that may affect you.

REMINDERS:

·       Pluto is in retrograde until October. During this pause of Pluto’s transformative energy, it’s a good time to re-stabilize; perhaps rethink or re-imagine whatever area in your life has been pushing for change.

·       Uranus recently moved into Gemini until 2032. Uranus challenges the rigid structures we [or society] have set up. Uranus influences communication, technology, and transportation. Interestingly, Gemini is the sign of communication. On a global scale, we will likely see innovations in how we, as a society, communicate: AI, internet, etc.

SUNDAY

·       Mercury conjunct Uranus in Gemini. This energy provides “bigger than life” ideas. Mercury pulls the energy of Uranus to a more personal level. Mercury being “the Messenger of the Gods,” could provide some spiritual enlightenment. It’s also an excellent time for writing, journaling, studying something new – anything that expands the mental processes.

·       Venus in Gemini sextile [opportunity] Mars and Chiron in Aries. This is an ideal time to let others know you empathize with their struggles. You can blend being strong with a dose of gentleness in your actions. The energy is particularly strong with Mars and Chiron conjunct.

·       These aspects will weigh strongest through Tuesday.

MONDAY

·       Mercury in Gemini [strong communication skills] sextile Neptune in Aries and trine Pluto [retrograde]. This combination of energies may find you assessing situations in a dreamy state, not really looking at the heart of the matter but with more of a superficial eye to the details until Wednesday. Then, it may be necessary to revisit decisions that were made during this time.

·       Mars leaves Aries, where it could shine in its actions, and moves into Taurus late in the evening, slowing down Mars’ energy, bringing practicality with a bit of frustration or resistance – a little unsettling.

WEDNESDAY

·       Moon conjunct Jupiter in Cancer brings optimism and a generous nature for the day before the Moon moves into Leo, bringing a light-heartedness to Thursday.

THURSDAY

·       Sun enters Gemini. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THE GEMINIS! Being a curious, versatile person gives you the energy to juggle many “balls in the air” and keep smiling. Today, the Sun is conjunct Uranus, encouraging a little rebellion in your leadership. Life is full of surprises.

FRIDAY

·       Venus in Cancer square Neptune in Aries for the day. The energy may be creating some disillusionment in personal relationships due to a misunderstanding. Be realistic. This too shall pass.

·       Mercury in Gemini sextile Saturn in Aries. Common sense is a great asset today; also knowing when to step back and remain still and quiet. If stressed, the benefits of prayer or meditation could ease your busy mind.

SATURDAY

·       First Quarter Moon at 2° Virgo. There’s a bit of conflicting energy here between your sense of self and your emotions. Trust your instincts. Also, think back to the end of August of 2025 when there was a New Moon at 0° Virgo. What plans were you considering then? Now is the time to organize and make plans as only Virgo energy can!

In considering all of these planetary aspects, more is revealed when you are aware of which houses these aspects present themselves in your natal chart and the other transits affecting in your natal chart.

TAROT

I always take a few moments of quiet to center myself, take a few deep breaths, and listen to intuition coming forth as I shuffle the cards. For the Zodiac signs this week, I'm using the traditional Rider-Waite deck. For the Collective card, an overview for all, I am using the Divine Angels Oracle deck.

·                 Collective card: Enthusiasm

“Approach life with an optimistic attitude, even in the face of challenges. Be excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and to embrace them with open arms.” What a wonderful card to get this week, given the challenges represented by the various astrological aspects. It’s always good to start every day with optimism, but sometimes we need to be reminded to be thankful for the abundances we have received and look forward with gratitude and optimism, knowing that we are truly blessed.

·                  ARIES [the Ram]: Knight of Pentacles

This is a card of productivity and addressing material matters this week. With Mars and Chiron conjunct in Aries this week, you may be feeling a burst of energy to get personal matters taken care of. In the process, Chiron is suggesting using some of this energy to help heal whatever is currently weighing on you.

·                  TAURUS [the Bull]: The Emperor

Taurus strives for stability and groundedness; and so does The Emperor! With Mars moving into Taurus this week, you may be feeling a letdown, a slowing down of energy to focus on the more mundane parts of life. If others are urging you on, set boundaries as needed and let others know the limits.

·                  GEMINI [the Twins]: The Tower

With the influx of energy building from several aspects affecting Gemini this week, particularly the Sun moving into Gemini, there are likely to be some sudden opportunities for change. Remember the collective card and approach with optimism. Also, Mars influences this card; so moving actively forward is expected.

·                  CANCER [the Crab]: The Devil

The Devil card is influenced by Capricorn; and while Capricorn is generally very responsible and hard working, the Devil card signifies some obsession or allowing your desires to overpower your judgment. Cancer counters that with nurturance and forgiveness. Knowing this, be wary of over-indulgences this week.

·                  LEO [the Lion]:   The Chariot

This may feel like a more introspective week, unusual for a Leo; but The Chariot is part of the House of the Moon, which encourages looking inward and becoming spiritually attuned. Also, with the First Quarter Moon’s energy this week, you may feel confident to implement a plan you’ve been contemplating.

·                  VIRGO [the Virgin]: Nine of Cups

This card signals that “wishes do come true,” but the sometimes overly practical Virgo may not believe that. The First Quarter Moon energy in Virgo may help convince you that it’s time to act on a plan you’ve had for a long time. Meditate, manifest, pray – whatever will provide the confidence you need right now.

·                  LIBRA [the Scales]: Three of Wands

Always looking for harmony, Libra, this card suggests that sometimes you can’t see what’s around you because you’re looking ahead. Observe what’s close to you. Adventure is all around; it doesn’t have to be in the distant future or well planned out.

·                  SCORPIO [the Scorpion]: Six of Pentacles

The Six of Pentacles is influenced by the Moon in Taurus, which represents a time of stability. This may cause you to relate easily to others but ignore your own feelings and needs. If your inner being were sitting in a chair across from you, what would you say? Be mindful of sharing your kindness with yourself.

·                  SAGITTARIUS [the Archer]: Five of Cups

Whatever conflict or disappointment that is causing a feeling of grief can become overwhelming. Remember that Uranus has come on the scene affecting clear communication and Pluto is in retrograde and could contribute to a power struggle. It’s time to re-stabilize, retreat, re-examine – any of those “re” words that will aid in a change of outlook.

·                  CAPRICORN [the Sea-Goat]: The Empress

The Empress is creative and self-expressive. She has a passionate approach to life, which is right up your alley, Capricorn. You appreciate the enthusiasm. This pairing may be just what you need to move forward with your plan that’s been simmering in the background since last August – refer to Saturday’s First Quarter Moon message.

·                  AQUARIUS [the Water Bearer]: Four of Wands

This card offers enthusiasm, along with our Collective Card. There’s a sense of completion of something that’s been at work on the sidelines. That’s every reason to celebrate. A moment to pause and give thanks adds to the significance of the moment.

·                  PISCES [the Fish]: The Hermit

The “dreamer” side of Pisces will enjoy this week. The Hermit suggests a time to unplug, to create some private space and bring energy to yourself. You need this time for self-development and determining what’s really important to prepare you for a transition that is coming.

When checking the Zodiac signs, look at not only your Sun sign, but also your Moon sign and Ascendant to get a fuller picture.
