For additional insight for my viewers, here is this week's Tarot reading. An overview of major astrology transits for this week helps focus the Tarot.
· With Summer Solstice in full swing, the Sun is now conjunct expansive Jupiter in Cancer and will be in this aspect for the week.
· The Cancer Sun/Jupiter are squared off with the Aries Neptune/Saturn. While The Sun and Jupiter want to activate great energy, Neptune and Saturn prefer a more spiritual discipline.
· Wednesday is a New Moon in 4° Cancer, encouraging planting seeds for new growth in the theme of whichever house 4° Cancer falls in your natal chart. Because it’s joining the Sun and Jupiter, this aspect may provide calm and maturity to the Sun/Jupiter vigor.
For entertainment purposes only
I always take a few moments of quiet to center myself, take a few deep breaths, and listen to intuition coming forth as I shuffle the cards. For the Zodiac signs this week, I'm using the Adriana Ayales’ Herbal Astrology Oracle deck. Cancer is the star this week, and being about home and nurturing, herbal astrology just seemed appropriate.
· FOR EVERYONE, a Collective card: Lavender/Weaver
Lavender is the weaver of new beginnings and emotional fulfillment. This lines up perfectly with the New Moon occurrence. This week is a great time to set a course for developing something new in your life. Is it a new hobby, a new career, a remodeling project, an exercise regime? Whatever it is, you may not be able to start immediately, but you can lay the foundation by setting a reasonable timeframe for yourself now.
· ARIES [the Ram]: Mandrake/Sensuality
Mandrake, also known as the devil’s apple, is most famous as being a mystical aphrodisiac plant. It’s governed by Neptune and Venus; and in this case, suggests finding what inspires happiness in your life. One definition of happiness: a moment of joy in knowing you accomplished something that causes your heart to glow. Share Neptune’s spiritual expansion with those you know who may need an uplift right now. It may bring you the happiness you seek.
· TAURUS [the Bull]: Cordyceps/Revival
Cordyceps is a fungus/mushroom that is known for treating fatigue and weakness; and in modern Chinese medicine is used for treating cancer and tumors. It’s ruled by Jupiter, Pluto, and Mars, all high energy planets. Being a resourceful Taurus, channel that expansive Jupiter energy to mentally “soar above the clouds” to reflect back on what you’ve already accomplished, and plant those New Moon seeds on what you want to achieve in the near future. It’s a time to revive your energy.
· GEMINI [the Twins]: Kava Kava/Community
Kava Kava is used as a tea and promotes deep relaxation of the muscles along with mental clarity. Ruled by Pluto and the Moon, this is a time of transformation. If you’re dealing with a situation or quandary now, you do not need to go it alone. That’s what community – perhaps a combination of family and friends – is for. Consider what your purpose [and others] is in your community. Leader, organizer, follower, teacher, cheerleader? Everyone has a role. Who can you look to for support? Don’t feel you have a concern? Look again. It could be minor, but still in need of addressing.
· CANCER [the Crab]: Arnica/Teacher
Arnica, also called Mountain Daisy, is traditionally used as a topical treatment for contusions, etc. to assist in tissue regeneration. In the Middle Ages, it was planted around a crop field during the Summer Solstice to ward away evil spirits. It’s ruled by disciplinarian Saturn. With so much going on in Cancer this week, now would be a great time to express your appreciation and loyalty to your family/friends/tribe by being the role model/teacher of Cancer resilience and spiritual healing.
· LEO [the Lion}: Motherwort/Strength
The botanical name for Motherwort translates to “lion-hearted”. What better herb for Leo?! Ancient Greek culture used Motherwort to treat depression and anxiety. It’s ruled by Venus and radiates strength. This week, with the strong aspects of the Sun [which rules Leo], this would be a good time to address any fears you may be dealing with. You may be feeling a little out of sorts and don’t quite know why. This is temporary and you will be back to your old roaring self soon.
· VIRGO [the Virgin]: Damiana/The Beloved
Damiana is considered a rejuvenating plant. The Aztecs used it for depression; the Maya, for relaxation and lung cleansing; and other cultures believed it to be an aphrodisiac. It’s ruled by Venus and Pluto, which are polar opposites, and represents the coming together of minds. If there’s someone in your life that you want to feel closer to – or someone that you feel the need to distance yourself from, now may be the week for some quiet time to ponder your options and lay the foundation for a fresh start in whichever direction you choose to go.
· LIBRA [the Scales]: Jergón Sacha/Transfiguration
In the Amazon and several South American countries, Jergón Sacha is used as an anti-venom; and being ruled by Mars and Pluto, it actively breaks down or transfigures poison into a healing agent. This week, Libra, look inward for emotional wounds, frustrations, or insecurities, perhaps from the work environment, that are preventing harmony in your life. Spend some quiet time recognizing your successes and get your balance back on track.
· SCORPIO [the Scorpion]: Ginseng/Magician
In many cultures, particularly China, ginseng is thought to be a cure-all and increases longevity. Ruled by Uranus and Jupiter, it provides great creative energy. This is your week, Scorpio, to embrace your creativity. What is that dream that you’ve been envisioning? Keep your vision clear and consistent. This is the time to start putting your plan into action.
· SAGITTARIUS [the Archer]: Cat’s Claw/Purification
South American indigenous tribes have used Cat’s Claw for over 2000 years as a treatment for everything from diabetes to viruses and tumors. Ruled by Mars and Pluto, it serves as a powerful regulator and purifier. Dismiss any negative thoughts or tendencies. Whatever path you choose to explore this week during the New Moon, know that you are loved and supported.
· CAPRICORN [the Mountain Goat]: Coca/Foresight [reversed]
Coca is deemed by many South American tribes as the greatest of all plant stimulants. Ruled by Uranus, it profoundly activates the imagination and increases clarity. As an oracle card reversed, this serves as a reminder to keep the ego in check. For Capricorn, this is generally not a problem; however, being opposite Cancer and all the activity going on there this week, there may be an unusual drive to stand out more. Have fun, but don’t go overboard.
· AQUARIUS [the Water Bearer]: Lemon Balm/Nurture
Lemon Balm has been used for centuries in many cultures to relieve depression and anxiety. Ruled by Jupiter and the asteroid Ceres, it provides nurturance. This week spend some time with your inner child, who has been ignored recently. Forgive yourself for working so hard lately and give yourself permission to go out and play. Cuddle and mother that inner child.
· PISCES [the Fish]: Mugwort/Psychic Healing
Mugwort is linked to the fairy realms and was used to keep evil spirits away; on a medicinal level, it relieves stomach and intestinal conditions. Ruled by the Moon and Neptune, it invokes a sense of calm and dreaminess, and of psychic abilities. Interestingly, Pisces is ruled by Neptune and has several psychic qualities and intuitive qualities. As this week’s New Moon signals new beginnings, it also represents a closure. It seems you are in the dark about something that you can’t get closure on. Remember, it’s darkest before the dawn. Allow your intuitive powers to guide you. In other words, trust your gut to lead you forward.
When checking the Zodiac signs, I look at not only my Sun sign, but also my Moon sign and my Ascendant to get a fuller picture.
