TAROT READINGS FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 4, 2026

“And there will be signs in the sun and the moon and the stars.” Luke 21:25

An overview of major astrology transits for this week helps focus the Tarot. Please remember that astrology aspects are not predictions but merely signposts to help understand the astral influences that may affect you.

·        Venus conjuncts the Sun conjuncts Mars. This aspect started Friday, January 2. A conjunction occurs when two luminaries come into alignment. Some astrologers use a 10° spread; I prefer 3°. Since Friday, when these luminaries had a spread between 1° and 2°, they have been influential. Quoting from last week, “this combined effect encourages you to blend your personal growth and accompanying life changes with affection, balance and positive action.” This week, that spread gets even closer and on Wednesday, they are all at 17° Capricorn. This is an ambitious time to build a solid foundation for the life changes you will face this year. The 3° spread will continue until January 15, when Venus will begin to move further away from this alignment. The result will be that Capricorn will continue to be a driving force in decision-making without the soft, harmonic vibes of Venus. It’s “nose to the grindstone” time.

·        From Wednesday through Saturday, Venus/Sun/Mars will be in opposition to Jupiter, causing some restlessness. The previously mentioned conjunction may have provided some great ideas, but this period opposing Jupiter could cause you to be impulsive to go forward with all your ideas instead of homing in on one or two at a time.

·        Friday Jupiter will be in exact opposition to Venus, causing a tendency toward extravagance and wastefulness. Remember – everything in moderation!

·        Saturday is the Last Quarter Moon at 20° Libra. This can cause emotional conflicts. The goal here is to trust your instincts and be assertive when needed, even if you choose to follow a non-traditional way of doing so.

In considering all of these planetary aspects, more is revealed when you are aware of which houses these aspects occur in your natal chart and the transits in your natal chart.

·        TAURUS [the Bull]: The Moon

Astronomically, the Moon reflects the light of the Sun. As such, this week the Moon is mirroring the influence of the Venus/Sun/Mars conjunction. Step back to privately consider your possibilities as you move forward into the New Year.

·        GEMINI [the Twins]: Four of Cups

This card is influenced by the Moon in Cancer; nurturing emotions abound. Your expectations may not pan out the way you anticipated, but hope comes from within. Keep an open mind and reevaluate your plans.

·        CANCER [the Crab]: The Fool

Infinite potential and eagerness are the key components of your thinking this week. Focus on your imagination and creativity. It’s there, Cancer, even though you tend to deny those capabilities. Have faith in yourself!

·        LEO [the Lion]: King of Swords

This card in Leo is a strong combination. You have the wisdom to be gracious as long as you don’t allow your domineering nature to take over. Leo is ruled by the Sun, which has multiple conjunctions currently. Use the vibes of Venus to soften your words while taking on the “moving forward” motions of Mars.

You may think it’s more of a responsibility than an opportunity, but here’s where looking at it differently will let you see its possibilities. After all, Venus rules Libra and wants only the most beautiful outcome.

·        SCORPIO [the Scorpion]: The Lovers

Present in the astrology this week is Mars, which rules Scorpio. The energy you spend now in a significant relationship, whether family, personal, or business, will be valuable in leading you to a higher understanding of the direction you dream of.

·        SAGITTARIUS [the Archer]: Knight of Pentacles

The combination of Jupiter ruling Sagittarius and Jupiter looming large in the astrology this week, receiving the Knight of Pentacles indicates a strong need to be practical and to take care of material/financial matters without being overambitious.

·        CAPRICORN [the Sea-Goat]: King of Cups

The restlessness you may be feeling from the Jupiter opposition may strike you harder since Jupiter rules Pisces. Resolve this by spending time enjoying the outdoors or kicking up your heels in some endeavor that brings you joy just because it’s fun. You’ve earned it.
